How we use your information

This privacy notice tells you what to expect when Avensys collects personal information. It applies to information we collect about:

  • Visitors to our websites
  • People who register and attend our events in store
  • People who purchase products from us
  • People who contract us to provide Custom Installation Services
  • People who use our services, eg who subscribe to our emails

When someone visits any of the Avensys websites, we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be up front about this.

We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it. We always ask your permission to contact you for marketing purposes and will never sell your data to third parties. If we need to share your data with a manufacturer to you about something relating to the product/s you have purchased, we will ask your permission.

Search engine

Search queries and results are logged anonymously to help us improve our website and search functionality. No user-specific data is collected by either Avensys or any third party.

E-mails

We use a third party provider, Mailchimp, to deliver our regular emails. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-communications. Security and performance

Avensys uses a third party service to help maintain the security and performance of Avensys websites. To deliver this service it processes the IP addresses of visitors to Avensys websites.

People who contact us via social media

If you send us a private or direct message via social media the message will be stored by us for three months. It will not be shared with any other organisations.

If you chose to, you can use social plug-ins from various social media platforms to share your interest in our products or content you view on the Sites and the servers of the relevant social media platform will connect to the Site. Your browser will recognise that you are visiting the Sites and if you are a registered user of these the relevant social media platforms, and you are logged in to these accounts while accessing our Sites, information will be shared with your personal account on the social media platform. For example, you could 'Like' or 'Tweet' a product or certain content through your Facebook or Twitter account. People who email us

We use Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt and protect email traffic in line with government. If your email service does not support TLS, you should be aware that any emails we send or receive may not be protected in transit.

We will also monitor any emails sent to us, including file attachments, for viruses or malicious software. Please be aware that you have a responsibility to ensure that any email you send is within the bounds of the law.

Your Data Security

We place great importance on the security of all personally identifiable information associated with our users. We have security measures in place to attempt to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of personal information under our control. For example, our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorised personnel have access to personal information. Whilst we cannot ensure or guarantee that loss, misuse or alteration of information will never occur, we use all reasonable efforts to prevent it.

You should bear in mind that submission of information over the internet is never entirely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of information you submit via the Sites whilst it is in transit over the internet and any such submission is at your own risk.

It is advisable to close your browser when you have finished your user session to help ensure others do not access your personal information if you use a shared computer or a computer in a public place.

Payment Processing

Payment details you provide will be encrypted (using secure sockets layer (SSL) technology) before they are submitted to us over the internet. Payments made on the Sites are made through our payment gateway provider, SAGEPAY. You will be providing credit or debit card information directly to SAGEPAY which operates a secure server to process payment details, encrypting your credit/debit card information and authorising payment. Information which you supply to SAGEPAY is not within our control and is subject to SAGEPAY's own privacy policy and terms and conditions.

Cookies

When you interact with avensys.co.uk, we try to make that experience simple and meaningful. When you visit us online, our web server sends a cookie to your computer. Cookies are small pieces of information which are issued to your computer when you visit a website and which store and sometimes track information about your use of avensys.co.uk. A number of cookies we use last only for the duration of your web session and expire when you close your browser. Right to be forgotten

The General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679 EU) provides you with the right to request the erasure of your personal data, also known as "the right to be forgotten". Avensys are obliged to erase personal data relating to an individual if:

You withdraw your consent and there is no other legal ground for the processing;

You object to the processing of data where the processing is on the basis of Avensys legitimate interests and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for us to continue;

Your personal data has been unlawfully processed; or

Erasure is required for compliance with a law to which Avensys is subject.

If one of the above applies, Avensys must erase the personal data without undue delay, on the request of the individual.

If Avensys has made the personal data public, it also has a duty to take reasonable steps to inform other data controllers that are processing the data that the individual has requested the erasure of the data and any links to or copies of it.
